Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year. For 12 days I will introduce you to 12 amazing creators that are doing BIG things and creating. Showcasing others and building a supportive community is so close to my heart. I love supporting others and that was the inspiration behind this series.
It’s the final day of the countdown but we have another outstanding creator to meet. Let’s get inspired together,
Hi, I’m Becca and I’m the creator and owner of Havenlyco. I am a needle felter, polymer clay artists. I mostly sell earrings. We donate 15% profits to victim advocates to help those affected by crime.
What’s important advice would you give a first time creator?
Put yourself out there! There will be no better time than now! There’s no “right time”. Don’t be afraid of what you put out there. You won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but the right audience will find you.
Are there hobbies or interests that helped you develop your content?
I don’t think I would call this an interest or hobby, but I first started my business to support victims of SA. I was SAed in 2017 and didn’t know what to do for myself after. It’s been a true healing process and I have found a good community.
What motivates you to create?
My audience’s excitement! They’re love and praise encourages me to keep going. Every little sale makes me so happy!
With creating there comes the hard times, what are some creative challenges you face?
The creative burnout is real! Often times I work so hard that I struggle creating anything else after. I don’t know how to balance work/life. It’s a work in progress and I find a good schedule helps that problem for me.
What the process that you works best for you from start to finish?
Felting takes a lot of time for me. Like one pair of earrings can take 2- 6 hours to make. For me I personally find it best to make one of each design to promote and see how many to sell. Then I make all orders in a 4 week processing time. It’s the easiest for me in saving time in the long run!
Do you have a network of other creator’s, and how do they support you?
We all usually put each other on a close friends list. We vent, say how we’re doing, ask for advice. We all support each other that way and I feel so honored when I see I’ve been added to someone’s close friends list.
